Be praised through all your creatures, especially through Brother Sun, who brings the day. You give light through him, and he is beautiful and radiant in his entire splendor!

I love you, Brother Sun. I am sorry that I have crucified you by polluting your sky. Please forgive me. Thank you for continually shining your love down upon me.

Be praised through Sister Moon and the stars. In the heavens you have made them precious and beautiful.

I love you, Sister Moon. I am sorry that I have crucified you by littering your multiverse. Please forgive me. Thank you for your silvery radiance and beautiful energy.

Be praised through Brothers Wind and Air, and clouds and storms, and all the weather, through which you give your creatures sustenance.

I love you Brothers Wind and Air. I am sorry that I have crucified you by sending toxins into your life-breath. Please forgive me. Thank you for carrying seeds across the Earth and my prayers to the Spirit.

Be praised through Sister Water. You are useful, and humble, and precious, and pure.

I love you Sister Water. I am sorry that I have crucified you by poisoning you. Please forgive me. Thank you for sustaining my life and washing my sins from Earth.

Be praised through Brother Fire, through whom you brighten the night. You are beautiful and cheerful, and powerful and strong.

I love you Brother Fire. I am sorry that I have crucified you by being greedy for your energy. Please forgive me. Thank you for your warmth and strength.

Be praised through our sister Mother Earth, who feeds us and rules us, and produces various fruits with colored flowers and herbs.

I love you Mother Earth. I am sorry that I have crucified you by contaminating your beauty. Please forgive me. Thank you for your love and the food you supply to all creatures.

A Poem for Earth Day

barefoot on the path
under the gypsy moon
I feel the dew on my skin
as I move gently
through a field of clover and grass
the fragrant earth whispers to me
telling secrets of a heart
filled with compassion
goddess guides me to discover
the mysteries of who she is
I look
and see only me

First Snowflake

You came to me from the Skye
Lazily drifting along on the soft wind
You were carried into my yard

As you entered into view
From the white morning Skye
I knew you were sent to me for a blessing

You wove your way between the bare branches
Of the single maple tree whose name I do not yet know,
Who stands watch over my back yard

The gentle sweep of a breeze momentarily took you upward
But then you slowly came to rest in the brown leaves

You held your shape for a moment
And then you were gone
One with the Earth from which you came

For the Moon

november full moon
Silver Coin, bright in the Skye,
Now peeking from behind a wispy cloud,
I watched as You slid across the canvas of night.

Branches half bare raise crooked arms
In honor of Your Light;
Twigs like fingers in the bright night
Grasp at Your Radiance.

No lantern will be needed by those
Walking a Dark Path
As Your Fullness gives Guidance.

We will gather stray harvest by Your Waning Light
Ready to Give Thanks at the mid-point
Between Samhain and Yule.

As the days grow darker and colder,
We cling by Faith to the knowledge that
The King of Holly will yield to the King of Oak,
And Sun will return to the land.

Until that time, we wait,
Watching the grey Skye for the first snowflake to fall.

Christ of the Leaves

Christ of the LeavesI see You in the leaves that fall
In the leaves that drift lazily to the ground

Ambers and topaz, burgundies and wines, browns like cocoa in a mug

I taste the colors of this season
I drink deeply of the colors which reveal Your Death

This time will pass and green will once again visit the Earth

Reminding us of Your Birth and the renewal You bring to our hearts

But for now, in this season of dying
When the air chills and the rain drives hard against the window pane
I remember Your Death and Your Sacrifice for Humankind
To save us from ourselves and to teach us how to love

I live because You die
I see You in the leaves that fall

The Pentacle Wounds of Christ

pentacle-knot
I wrote this poem about a year ago. I sometimes incorporate it into my prayer beads. It was intended to be a Meditative Prayer Poem for the Eclectic Christian Witch.

Sacred Pentacle, Sweet Apple, Flower
Thus show the Wounds, Thy wondrous power
Suffered in that Divine Hour
Five Wounds! Blessed Be! Blessed Be!

I breathe the Air in which I dance
Joy in the East the Sun dost advance
Left hand pinned down You see the lance
Five Wounds! Blessed Be! Blessed Be!

Nourishing Water my Substance keep
Contented West thy bounty reap
From Right Hand blood to make one weep
Five Wounds! Blessed Be! Blessed Be!

Brought forth in Body from dust of Earth
Thanks to the North my precious Birth
Struck through Thy Left Foot for my Worth
Five Wounds! Blessed Be! Blessed Be!

Thou givest me Fire for Energy
Happy South sustain me is my Plea
In Right Foot came the Nail named Three
Five Wounds! Blessed Be! Blessed Be!

My Spirit speaks to the Breath & Bone
Come from the Four Winds and Great Throne
Thy Side pierced after the Last Groan
Five Wounds! Blessed Be! Blessed Be!

Sacred Pentacle, Sweet Apple, Flower
Thus show the Wounds, Thy wonderous power
Suffered in that Divine Hour
Five Wounds! Blessed Be! Blessed Be!

Thin Places

sefton ghost
Firefly
Lead the way
To the place where the veil thins

Between here
And there
The land of apples and ancestors and The Ancient of Days

See through the mist
Through the fog
Through the rent veil where the Otherworld lies

Firefly
Lead the way
To that universal rend in time, in space

Look
They come
They cross over to visit, and we see, we hear

Luna dances behind the cloud
That hangs low in the violet sky
Inviting you to see, inviting me

Join in the dance
With Luna
And your brothers, your sisters from all ages

Firefly
Lead the way
To the place where the veil thins
